Balling has acknowledged that he had received $408,000 in research funding from the fossil fuel industry over the last decade (of which his University takes 50% for overhead). Contributors include ExxonMobil, the British Coal Corporation, Cyprus Minerals and OPEC (care of SourceWatch)
It may be worth your while to check into the global warming issues. It actually scares me more than the triple debt (fiscal, trade, personal) and peak oil. The question is when will it start to manifest itself in ways that make us notice (i.e., hurt). It could be within 5 years, or just after peak oil and financial turmoil have leveled us. Some of the conference presentations at: http://www.climatechange.ca.gov/ are useful.
